Landscape Award of the Council of Europe
Open to all signatories of the European Landscape Convention, the Landscape Award of the Council of Europe is intended to raise civil society’s awareness of the value of landscapes, their role and changes affecting them. Its objective is to reward exemplary practical initiatives aimed at successful landscape quality objectives on the territories of the Parties to the Convention. It effectively promotes the territorial dimension of human rights and democracy by acknowledging the importance of measures taken to improve the landscape for people’s living conditions.

Practical issues:
- Awards are given out every 2 years. The deadline for the current edition is December 31, 2012; the next one December 2014.
- Projects are eligible only during the 3 years following their completion and date of full accessibility to the public.
- Candidates are pre-selected through a national judging panel (national landscape award) and only one winner per country moves onward to the proper Landscape Award contest
- A presentation of the candidate(s), not more than 3 pages long
- A description of the area (in paper form, approximately 20 pages long), accompanied by a digital copy in PDF format on CD-Rom
- A poster
- A 5 min. video presentation
